BEFORE TANGLING FOR THE BCS CHAMPIONSHIP DUCKS, TIGERS MEET AT ST. MARY’S FOOD BANK FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT ON SUNDAY

Oregon Band, Cheerleaders, and Mascot to Join Both University Presidents As They Build Emergency Food Boxes to Benefit the Hungry of Arizona

A day before their football teams meet in Glendale to decide the national championship of college football in the BCS Title Game, representatives of the University of Oregon and University of Auburn will team up to fight hunger in Arizona with a community service project partnership on Sunday, Jan 9 at St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance.
Members of the Oregon band, cheerleaders and “The Duck” himself will join both University presidents – Oregon’s Richard Lariviere and Auburn’s Jay Gogue – at St. Mary’s Del E. Webb Distribution Center beginning at 8:45 a.m. The band, cheerleaders and mascots will perform as the volunteers enter the Food Bank and before dignitaries such as the Oregon Board of Trustees are introduced and the University presidents and U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) speak about the joint project.
Oregon will make a donation of food brought from the Eugene campus to benefit the hungry in Arizona before administrators and fans from both schools spend approximately two hours building some of the more than 40,000 Emergency Food Boxes St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance distributes each month to the hungry.
