OREGON, AUBURN TEAM UP TO PACK 3,000 EMERGENCY FOOD BOXES THE DAY BEFORE BCS TITLE CLASH
St. Mary’s Food Bank would like to that the boosters, band members, cheerleaders and mascots from Auburn University and the University of Oregon for visiting St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance on Sunday morning. More than 200 volunteers got up early on Sunday morning, full of enthusiasm and ready to work.
After a welcome from the university presidents and other dignitaries, the groups got down to work and packed over 3,000 Emergency Food Box – packing and sorting more than 100,000 pounds of food earmarked for distribution to Arizona’s hungry. The Ducks also brought a food donation of five cases of canned salmon that will be placed in food boxes this week.
Oregon and Auburn will battle for No. 1 on Monday night for the national championship at University of Phoenix Stadium. But on Sunday, they worked hand in hand in the battle against hunger in Arizona, and we want to thank our new friends for helping our community during their visit. Good luck to both schools in the big game.
